In this painting, dining room chairs represent a family finding a route out of an untrackable wilderness by means of a forceful current within a roaring waterfall.

In the scriptures, rushing water is a symbol used to represent the voice of the Lord. Choosing to consistently study the words of Christ offers the honest seeker spiritual direction, protection and transformation.

“And he shall utter his voice out of Zion, and he shall speak from Jerusalem, and his voice shall be heard among all people and it shall be as the voice of many waters . . .” (Doctrine and Covenants 133:21-22)

“My commandments shall be a well of living water.” (Doctrine and Covenants 63:23)

“In my judgement, diligently searching to discover connections, patterns, and themes is in part what it means to “feast” upon the words of Christ. This approach can open the floodgates of the spiritual reservoir, enlighten our understanding through His Spirit, and produce a depth of gratitude for the holy scriptures and a degree of spiritual commitment that can be received in no other way. Such searching enables us to build upon the rock of our Redeemer and to withstand the winds of wickedness in these latter days.” Elder David A Bednar https://byu.edu/talks/david-a-bednar_reservoir-living-water/
